What is MUGH Core?

MUGH Core is an internal group within MUGH that takes care of how this user group operates.

The current members are:

We are also extending an invitation to the following Hyderabad based MVPs to become part of the MUGH Core group:

MUGH Core Meet: February 2nd 2010

These are some points on what was achieved in today's meeting of the MUGH Core group.

The meeting was attended by:

The following points were discussed to bring regularity to MUGH:

MUGH Core group to meet every first Sunday of the month at 10:00 am -- we are looking at getting permission to hold it in the Road no. 36, Jubilee Hills office of Microsoft. Every such meet will have two main reasons to be held:

The first reason is to chart the direction for MUGH, and the second reason would be to hold special one-on-one sessions for attendees to develop skills and deploy self improvement programs.
There should be an UG meet each month on the 2nd Saturday of the month from 10 am to 12 noon. If the 2nd Saturday happens on a festival day or a national holiday, then the meet can move to the 3rd Saturday of that month only.

We also should look into the possibility of having some UG meets in the city (Hyderabad or Secunderabad) and doing some special UG meets that are oriented towards IT Pro and Consumer tracks.
There should be an event held by MUGH at least every 3 months, and possibly every 2 months.
Revamp the MUGH site -- both Sudhakar and Geetesh have access to the MUGH blog. Hima is also being provided access to post on the blog.
Hima says Hyderabad Techies have asked her if they can merge and form part of MUGH -- we need to discuss this in the next monthly core MUGH meet -- every MUGH core group member is asked to attend without fail.

Open XML SDK for Microsoft Office 2007

Microsoft has released SDK for Open XML formats for Office 2007. The 2007 Microsoft® Office system introduces a new file format that is based on XML called Open XML Formats.This SDK is built on top of the System.IO.Packaging API and provides strongly typed part classes to manipulate Open XML documents.

Microsoft India Webcasts for August

Vinod Kumar, Technology Evangelist at Microsoft India sent me a webcast schedule for August that includes sessions on Office Communications Server, Windows Server 2008, SQL Server 2005 and Windows Vista.

There are many more webcasts on several other subjects. Registration is free, though seats are limited and restricted to a first come basis.

Microsoft Works 9, Free with Ads

Microsoft has released a new version of Microsoft Works. Microsoft Works v9, the red-headed stepchild of Microsoft Office, is a free, ad supported office package offering word processing, spreadsheet and slideshow (PowerPoint) functionality.

Microsoft Works 9 may also someday be available as a Microsoft-hosted low-end productivity service, possibly through the company’s Live services, which would put it head-to-head with Google Docs & Spreadsheets and Zoho. But for the moment, Works 9 will be limited to the desktop.

We started with user groups, and we met in various places in Hyderabad and beyond. Yet, those few hours provide us with a little time -- and there's so much inspiration in that time!

That sort of inspiration evolves into knowledge -- knowledge that deserves to be shared, expressed, and maybe just thought aloud? And so we decided to evolve the MUGH site to a blog. You'll notice we kept the other stuff, and you can access it from all pages (see the navbar on the top).

A blog platform allows us the put up content quick, when it is needed most, and it's also democratic because you can comment. And we are always open to hearing from you.
