Open XML SDK for Microsoft Office 2007

Microsoft has released SDK for Open XML formats for Office 2007. The 2007 Microsoft® Office system introduces a new file format that is based on XML called Open XML Formats.This SDK is built on top of the System.IO.Packaging API and provides strongly typed part classes to manipulate Open XML documents.

Microsoft India Webcasts for August

Vinod Kumar, Technology Evangelist at Microsoft India sent me a webcast schedule for August that includes sessions on Office Communications Server, Windows Server 2008, SQL Server 2005 and Windows Vista.

There are many more webcasts on several other subjects. Registration is free, though seats are limited and restricted to a first come basis.

Microsoft Works 9, Free with Ads

Microsoft has released a new version of Microsoft Works. Microsoft Works v9, the red-headed stepchild of Microsoft Office, is a free, ad supported office package offering word processing, spreadsheet and slideshow (PowerPoint) functionality.

Microsoft Works 9 may also someday be available as a Microsoft-hosted low-end productivity service, possibly through the company’s Live services, which would put it head-to-head with Google Docs & Spreadsheets and Zoho. But for the moment, Works 9 will be limited to the desktop.
